Simulation-based Identification of Concealed Damage on Bridges

Prof. Raimar J. Scherer is a leading expert in construction informatics and computer applications in civil engineering. With a PhD in structural vibrations from TU München, he has held key academic positions, including Professor at TU Dresden and University of Karlsruhe.

His research spans BIM, AI in construction, and data standardization, significantly influencing STEP and IFC development. As a founding member of EAPPM and EG-ICE, he pioneered BIM conferences in Europe. He has led major projects, including Mefisto (16M€) and eeEmbedded (11M€), advancing virtual construction and energy-efficient buildings.

A recipient of the ZUSE Medal, he developed the first BIM server, document management system, and virtual lab. Prof. Raimar Scherer has contributed extensively to scientific boards, authored influential books, and played a vital role in shaping construction informatics worldwide.
At ACCCBE, Prof. Scherer will deliver the keynote “Simulation-based Identification of Concealed Damage on Bridges.”
