Professor Nashwan Dawood is Professor of Digital Construction in the Centre for Sustainable Engineering at Teesside University. His expertise is in sustainable infrastructure and in modelling ways to ensure cardon reduction in construction, housing and engineering projects. He has long-standing experience of undertaking research projects with major industrial partners in the areas of 5D modelling, serious game engine technology, Building Information Modelling, and the application of digital technologies for energy efficient buildings. He has worked with the Qatar Foundation to examine whole lifecycle approaches to construction (through digital underpinning) and in South Korea to bring about a new way to visualise and plan the construction of bridges.
He has published more than 220 research papers, and sits on the editorial board of a number of journals and conferences. His work has been recognized outside of the academic sphere, for example with its short-listing for the Constructing Excellence Innovation Award. His research was recognised in the UK’s best breakthrough list.
