ACCCBE

The African Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ACCCBE) serves as a pivotal platform for professionals, researchers, and stakeholders across Africa to converge and explore the intersection of computing technologies with civil and building engineering disciplines. Established to address the unique challenges and opportunities within the African context, ACCCBE aims to foster innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange in areas such as computational modeling, simulation, data analytics, and digital transformation in construction practices.

By bridging the gap between academia, industry, and government, the conference facilitates discussions on sustainable infrastructure development, smart cities initiatives, and advances in construction methodologies. Through its diverse panels, workshops, and paper presentations, ACCCBE plays a crucial role in shaping the future of civil and building engineering across the African continent.

Venue

Cape Town is a stunning travel destination, offering breathtaking landscapes like Table Mountain and pristine beaches along the Atlantic coast. Its vibrant cultural scene, world-class cuisine, and diverse attractions make it a must-visit for any traveler.

The conference will be held at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business campus in the V&A Waterfront. Originally built as a prison in the 1800s, this landmark now features a state-of-the-art conference and exhibition center in the heart of the city.

The V&A Waterfront is Africa’s most visited tourist attraction and boasts numerous indoor and outdoor shopping and entertainment venues in a cosmopolitan setting, along with many of Cape Town’s top restaurants and museums. The area around the GSB campus is surrounded by hotels, providing pleasant and safe opportunities to experience African cultures in a beautiful environment.

CONVR

ACCBE is excited to collaborate with CONVR 25, the 25th International Conference on Construction Applications of Virtual Reality, to explore the intersection of cutting-edge technologies and sustainable development in the built environment.

This partnership brings together leading international experts in civil engineering, construction, and virtual reality to showcase innovative solutions for improving construction practices, design efficiency, and project resilience. Attendees will gain insights into the latest advancements in virtual reality applications, data analytics, and computational techniques, all aimed at revolutionizing the future of construction and building engineering across Africa and beyond.

History

The International Conference on Construction Applications of Virtual Reality was initiated by Prof. Nashwan Dawood. The first CONVR was held in Teesside (UK) in 2000.

The conference focuses on the fields of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) which are forward-looking technologies that enable considerable benefits in all stages of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) process, from initial planning and conceptual design to facility management and operations. Over the last 22 years CONVR has been held all around the globe and sponsored by major software and engineering companies.
